AAHM Summer Camp


The Springfield & Central Illinois African American History Museum (AAHM) invites students in grades 3rd–5th to join this year’s FREE summer camp:

 

 Behind the Mask: Exploring History, Expressing Identity Through Art & Movement

📍 Location: Union Baptist Church

1405 E. Monroe St., Springfield, IL 62703

🗓 Choose ONE Week:

• Week 1: June 1–5, 2026

• Week 2: June 8–12, 2026

 

⏰ Time: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

Campers will:

✔️ Explore African and African American cultural traditions

✔️ Learn the meaning and symbolism behind masks, patterns, and storytelling

✔️ Express themselves through art, movement, and dance

✔️ Build confidence, creativity, and new friendships
